It's Been Awhile ...

Where the hell has the time gone? It's been 2 months since my last entry. So much has happened...

Memorial Day Weekend - Headed back to Vegas with my sister. We saw Madonna in concert at MGM. Pretty cool even though I'm not a huge fan. Worth it and anything in Vegas is great for me. Jacob started crawling when I was away - of course. But, that's ok. Dad was there to see it.

June 10-11th - Jacob had his 1st bday parties. Wow. That was a fun weekend with over 60 people at our house over two days. But, he loved it. Loved the cake, loved the attention and was just great. It's hard to believe that he's been here for a year, but at the same time it seems as if he's been a part of our lives forever and ever.

June 12 -15, fought with Rich about his LOSER brother. Called the day of Jacobs b-day party asking what to get him. If he actually SAW his nephew once in awhile. Then, at the party we were looking for him as Jacob opened his gift (wrapped by MIL, of course) and he was gone. Just left the party and didn't say anything to anyone. Nice, huh? As it turned out Rich confronted his brother and asked me to give him "one more chance". If he shows no interest in Jacob and trying to come see him, then we get to write the piece of crap off. Finally.

June 15th - Jacob turned 1.

June 25th - headed to Nashville, TN for a work conference. Mostly pleasure. Rich, Jake and I. And we took my sister Tori with. It was a lot of fun. Rich was a little sick and got a little crabby on the way home, but dealt with THAT issue and even got him to apologize for being a jerk-wad.

July 15th - Headed to Galena with Rich alone for the night. It was great. Had some nice alone time and rekindled some much needed romance.

My wonderful father in law was put in the hospital. He had to have his big toe removed due to a blister that wouldn't heal. He has diabetes and just doesn't take care of himself. He also found out that at one point he had a heart attack but never knew it and there is scar tissue on his heart. Leaving him with 45% capacity of it. Not good. We've been to visit him a bunch of times as he lights up when he sees our son Jacob. FIL has been 1000 times nicer to me, too. Actually had a conversation with me. So, maybe knowing you're actually a mortal makes you a nicer person. I'll take it.

Ok, gotta get outta here. Time to go home. I'll be back sooner...I miss venting. :)
